Data Preparation and Import Templates

This page gives an overview on the Orbit mobile mapping import templates and how to prepare your data for import.
Download and add templates to your Orbit installation and start importing.

Orbit imports mobile mapping data into an Orbit run using intelligent templates.

An Orbit import template is a predefined set configurations, containing all technical details of the mobile mapping system. A template is exactly configured according a given vehicle setup, used sensors and available resources. This technique simplifies and standardizes the workflow to import a well known set of data.


Add your Template to Orbit

Only the generic Orbit import templates are included in a clean Orbit installation.
Download and add your preferred templates :

  1. Download the required template below.
  2. Unzip and copy the parent template folder to :
    • Desktop Standalone1) : <Orbit installation directory>/program/ext/mobile_mapping/project/template/
    • Desktop Client/Server or Publisher : <Orbit installation directory>client/program/ext/mobile_mapping/project/template/
  3. Restart Orbit to get access to the newly copied template, Import Mobile Mapping data in Orbit

Create Your own template

In addition to the above listed templates the Orbit engine offers all configuration possibilities to customize the import for using any combination of supported mobile mapping resources. Once the configuration is known, it can be added as new import template to extremely simplify all future imports.
