Map 2D Zoom Functions
The Map Zoom functions make it possible to zoom in and out on the map to get the map view of your preference.
A zoom changes the map scale but will not adjust the map rotation or center (except for zoom via context menu, see below).
Zoom via Mouse Wheel
Zoom in or out the map to the mouse pointer map position using your mouse wheel. This function is always available, even if an other function is active.
The zoom direction can be set via the Map Canvas preferences.
- Orbit style (default) : push away to zoom out
- Google style : push away to zoom in
Zoom via Compass Rose
Zoom in or out by using the according + or - buttons of the Compass Rose. The current map scale will be adjusted with factor 2.

Zoom via Map Context Menu
Center and zoom in or out the map view via the Map 2D right click Map Context Menu to the clicked location

Zoom via Navigation Menu zoom functions

MapCanvas > Map 2D > Navigation Menu > Zoom In / Out / Smart
Zoom In / Out
- Single click on the map will zoom with factor 2 and center the map to the clicked position.
- Click and drag to define the zoom area, this will be be area of the next map view / of the map view after applying the zoom.
Zoom Smart
- Click and drag to zoom dynamically, the map center will be retained
- Zoom Smart + <Ctrl> will behave as Pan function
The zoom smart speed can be set via the Map Canvas preferences.
