Clash Detection

The goal of this exercise is to demonstrate to the user how to use the “Clash Detection” extension. The user will be able to adjust the parameters of the extension, in order to get the correct clash results according to one's project needs.

Exercise

Before Getting Started

  1. Switch Map Layout to Map 3D
  2. Open/Add Mapping Run “AU Queensland”
  3. Add Vector Resource “path.ovf”

Clash Detection Project

  1. Open extension “Clash Detection”
  2. Select Point Cloud “Point Cloud”
  3. Create new Clash Detection Project
  4. Define 3D Path
    Select the polyline from the “path.ovf” vector dataset. Make sure you can select objects from this dataset. Depending your Selection Preferences, the Vector Dataset must be set as Active Dataset to be able to select objects from this dataset.
  5. Select Shape
    Select the shape 4000×4000
  6. Position Shape on Path
    Ground height offset of 0.7m, centered horizontal alignment (2m each side).
  7. Set Analyse Parameters
    Check Hits, Near hits and Ignore Ground Level.
    Set Min Points for cluster to 5 and Near Hits to 1m.
  8. Run Clash Detection
    Once a 3D Path and a Shape a specified, the Clash Detection process can be executed. Clusters of detected clashes will be added to the result list one by one, beginning of the segment. The process will identify 21 clashes, including 11 Hits and 10 Near Hits.
  9. Visualize Results
    Check “Show labels” and “Highlight selection”.
    Double click result [1] to focus and review the result. Set “Follow Up” or “Ok” if no follow up is required. Do the same for all detected clashes.
