Map View
The Map is Orbit's core component to view all resources and to link or interact with any other component or extension.
Map View is available for 2D, 3D, and 3D GL rendering.
Some capabilities are available on specific Map View only.
Map 2D, Map 3D and Map 3D (GL)
Backdrop
The Backdrop icon in the right upper corner toggles the map background color, useful to detect white-colored vector objects.
On 2D: white, light gray, dark gray, black. On 3D: white, light gray, blue, black. On GL: white, light gray, blue, black.
Maximize / Re-size
The Maximize icon in the right upper corner toggles the window between maximized Map view and split screen mode Map-Tab view.
Select Vector Objects
Select vector objects or point cloud data.

Measurements
Measure points, lines, areas, circles, angles, and rectangular volumes.

Context Menu
Right-click on the map to open the context menu and to navigate.

Status Bar
The Status Bar at the bottom of the Map View displays and/or gives access to the active Map Function, the Map Coordinate Reference System, Map Reference Ground Height, the Map Scale, display, and the Map cursor coordinates.

Active Function
The active map function is indicated in the left lower corner of the Map Status Bar and by the appearance of the cursor when hovering above the map.
Map Display CRS
The current Map Display Coordinate System is indicated and editable from the Map Status Bar.
All visible datasets are re-projected on the fly, if the Dataset CRS differs from the Map CRS, to be rendered in the Map CRS.
