Orbit desktop (client and standalone) and server run on all platforms for which a proper Java runtime is available.
The Orbit core technology is created in 100% pure Java. No extra's, no libraries, just Java. All Orbit dekstop products are thus runnable on all platforms for which a proper Java runtime is available. Some extensions are based on third-party libraries that are not portable: MrSID driver, ECW driver, FME support and others.

From Orbit version 11.01) application license, settings and data are stored within the Windows User Application Data directory. Consequently each Operating System user will need to activate Orbit and will manage its own data. Direct access via data path : “%localappdata%\Orbit”
Since Orbit is running on Java, it is possible to install Orbit on each distribution that supports Java.
