Saving the project

There are several ways to save your project data as you can see in the File Menu:

Strabo does not have an automatic periodical save. This means that the user is responsible for saving the project at regular time intervals. This applies also to the datasets that are created or updated.


Save Project

  1. In the case of a newly created project you will be asked for a path to save your project, by means of a File Selection dialog.
  2. In the case of a previously created project, Strabo remembers the file location and will silently save the project on the known location overwriting the previous version of the project.
  3. Saving the project, the following files are created or updated:
    • '{projectname}.spr'. (project data for all photos)
    • '{projectname}.scp'. (control points)
    • '{projectname}.sdp'. (DEM points)
    • '{projectname}.sop'. (object points)


Save Project As

Whether the project is new or opened, Strabo will ask you for a new location to save the project. This is a way to backup the project.

After doing a 'Save Project As' procedure, Strabo will use the new location as the active location for the “Save project” function.


Save Overview

This function will create a shape (.shp) file showing the project overview drawing.
The next three shape files will be created:

  1. projectname.shp shows all the image footprints in the project.
  2. projectnameOP.shp shows position of the available objectpoints.
  3. projectnameCP.shp shows position of the available control points.
