Screen Layout
Menu and Toolbar
Use the menu and toolbar to access all methods and functions Orbit Explorer has to offer. We'll browse through menu and toolbar options later.
Dataset List
At the left hand side, you'll see the Dataset listing. This panel shows all the spatial datasets you've accessed. You can interact with them by changing visibility, sequence and more. Read all about it in the Viewing and Managing Datasets chapter.
Map View Window
The major part of Orbit Explorer is the graphic Map View Window. In this large window, spatial data is drawn. You can interact with the data by zooming, panning, selecting objects and more.
Status bar
The bottom line is occupied by a status bar. This bar displays from left to right :
- The currently active function
- The current projection system of the view
- The current scale of the view
- the current spatial coordinate of the mouse position in the view
Optional Windows
The View menu provides some windows that you can turn on and off. Dataset List, Status Bar and Overview Window are among them. Default, they are visible. Other options are the Object Inspector Window and the Magnifier Window, which are default off.
