Legend Editor : Classification
Open the Legend Editor Classification
- from menu : Datasets > Legend Editors… > Classification
- right-click menu in the Dataset List : right-click dataset > Legend Editor… > Classification
This tab allows you to classify your spatial objects and define different appearances for the classes.
In essence, what we do is define an appearance for the objects in the Model that is conditional to attribute values. We can do so in 2 ways : classification and direct link. But first we choose the attribute that will define this condition.
Attributes that are associated with a classification will appear in bold in the listbox.
Understanding Classification
In Orbit Technology, diversification of graphic representation of spatial objects is done in a common and efficient way : Define a Classification for Attributes and assign different appearance styles to each class.
A Classification will dynamically alter the value of one or more graphic parameters. making the default value of that same parameter (as set in the Simple Editor) obsolete, or only useful for objects that are not influenced by the classification (when it's relevant attribute value is not contained within one of the specified classes).
Graphic Appearance defined by a classification will overrule the settings for the same parameters in the Simple Editor.

When using classification, we divide all values of a certain attribute in classes, and assign different appearances to each class. The table shows a row per class. At the left hand side, the attribute value or an attribute value range is specified. In the center, an edit field for the chosen graphic parameter is presented. At the far right side, an entry field is provided for legend display labels. Control tools surround this table.

Use this option only if the attribute value exactly matches a value for a single specific parameter, for instance an orientation or size. This option is generally used by CAD-related storage formats, and by Dynamic Symbols.
