View and Use Mobile Mapping data

This page gives an overview on the tools and functions to use mobile mapping resources in Orbit desktop products.

Open a Run or Project

Use the “Open Run” or “Open Project” procedure to load the desired imported mobile mapping resources :

Runs are only available to administrators, Projects can be available to all users but permissions must be granted by the Orbit administrator.
Don't worry if you are using Orbit standalone products, you are an administrator. When using Orbit Client-Server all users have a well defined role / level of use.

Open View from Map 2D

The “Select” button from the Mobile Mapping top toolbar (see below) activates the function to open one or more mobile mapping views by clicking on the Map 2D.
It is one button, but it can be used in different ways to open on the most efficient way the view you want :

Mobile Mapping tab Top and Side Toolbar

Viewing and using complex mobile mapping data requires lots of tools and functions to operate fast and easy.
The Mobile Mapping tab has a top toolbar (always visible) and a sidebar on each opened view.

The pan button (hand) from the Mobile Mapping top toolbar (see above) activates the mobile mapping pan function to navigate on an opened image or 3D view.
It is one button, but wit a lots of possibilities to navigate smooth and easy on images and in 3D :

Measurements

Orbit offers lots of measure functions based on point clouds or using triangulation.

Vectover Overlays

Any supported vector resources (2D or 3D) can be overlayed on the images or displayed in 3D.
When displaying vector resources in the Mobile Mapping tab special attention is required to the dataset CRS and structure definition :
