Export Inventory Theme

The administration procedure “Export Theme” allows the Orbit administrator to export an inventory Theme to any supported vector file.

Export Inventory Theme

Open the procedure “Export Theme”
Procedures > Administration > Asset Inventory > Export Theme

Theme
Select the required inventory Theme from the drop-down list.
Only the Inventory Themes that are available in the current workspace will be available from the drop-down list.
If the desired Theme is missing, one can add it to the workspace via the Asset Inventory administration procedure Manage Themes1).

Export CRS
Define the Coordinate Reference System which must be used to create the export in.
If required Orbit will transform the spatial content from the original Theme CRS to the defined export CRS.

Export Theme
Click the button “Export Theme” to specify the export file format and directory.

Finish the procedure by clicking the apply button (square).

Export Inventory Snapshots

The exported Theme does not include the Inventory snapshots and documents. If interested these are stored in an open file structure.

Each Inventory Theme has its own snapshots and documents directory with a sub-folder for each Inventory Object.
In a separated xml file (standalone) or database table (client/server) Orbit stores the linked metadata. As it is possible to add multiple snapshots and documents to one object the metadata cannot be stored as object attribute information.
Orbit uses the metadata information the improve the geolocation of snapshots. Using the available Object ID third party application can re-establish the link between Inventory snapshots/documents and the Objects.

Storage location of snapshots and documents :

  • version 11.0 : %localappdata%\Orbit\Orbit MM Asset Inventory\services\ext_inventory_suite
  • version 10.5 : <Orbit installation directory>/data/inventories/<inventory theme>/<inventory object id>

Export Legend

The legend or presentation of spatial information depends the used application. A legend file cannot be exchanged between different applications.
Exporting a theme to an ESRI shape file will not create an Orbit legend file (.olg).
To export the Orbit legend select an Orbit Vector file export format (.ovf or .ovt).

1)
The Manage Themes procedure is only available fro Orbit Standalone products, when using Orbit in client server review Manage Asset Inventory (Client/Server)
