Extensions > Mobile Mapping

This page describes the Extensions > Mobile Mapping tab of the EOS Console.
Review your server available mobile mapping resources and define user or user group permissions on mobile mapping projects.

At the left side all the available Mobile Mapping projects are listed.
This list is managed from the Orbit Dekstop Client by using the the Mobile Mapping administrator procedures 1).

Project permissions

Mobile Mapping project permissions can be assigned both to User Groups and individual users (Additional Users). The Users box right from User Groups is just an overview of the users that are included in the selected User Groups.

When granting permissions to a user (or user group) this user will be able to view and use data from this mobile mapping project

  • using an Orbit Desktop Client :
The mobile mapping project will be available for the user from the Mobile Mapping procedure "Open Project".
  • using an Orbit Publisher Client :
The user will be able to open any Mobile Mapping publication that includes this project.
Even if a user is able to open a Publication, the user will only be able to open Panoramas from Projects for which permissions are granted.

Runs and availability

The tab “Runs” lists all the mobile mapping Runs that are part of the selectedProject.

Path
The Path field shows where the Run should be located. This is the location used by the Orbit client when importing or adding the run. This location can only be changed via an Orbit client using the Remove and Add Run procedures.

Ready
The Ready indicator shows if this run is available to the Orbit service or not.
In a client/server setup special attention is required for data management and storage location. To make your runs and projects available in your network for the Orbit service and Orbit client users it is required to grant the required system file permissions (both for client operators as for the Orbit service user) and to use UNC syntax, when specifying the data path.
It is important to know that in most cases a service is not able to use or approach data from a shared map drive. The use of UNC syntax may be required.

Access Logging

Activation and configuration of advanced logging of mobile mapping publisher use has been moved to EOS Console > Current Use > MM Publisher

1)
Only a user with administrator roles on the panorama extension will have access to the administrator procedures. More information about the principles of roles and adjusting roles on extension can be read here.
