Workspace Sidebar

This page documents the 3DM Viewer Workspace Feature Sidebar.
Orbit 3DM Viewer > Sidebar > Feature Sidebars > Workspace

The Workspace is the main window of the 3D Mapping Viewer and has several types of Views to it. On the one hand, there is the 2D Reference View. On the other hand, there are resources Views. The Workspace Sidebar allows specifying the layout of the Workspace with these Views in it.

Arrange Views

A Workspace can have up to four Views. These can be arranged horizontally, vertically, or tiled.

Place Reference View

The 2D Reference View can be added and positioned in the Workspace according to your preferences.

The size of the Reference View can be changed by dragging the edge until the desired size is met. If the placement of the Reference View is then changed in the Workspace Sidebar, the relative size of the Reference View will be reprojected in the new placement.

Set Background Color

Choose one of the listed backdground colors from the list. The selected color will be highlighted with a frame. The chosen color will be applied to all open views in Aerial and Oblique mode. When there is no backdrop set, 3D View also used the background color.

Set Backdrop for 3D View

The 3D Backdrops are designed for aesthetic purposes. A bright blue sky on the horizon speaks more to the imagination than a flat dark background, certainly when creating a point cloud fly-through movie.

Choose one of the listed backdrop images from the list. The selected image will be highlighted with a frame. The chosen backdrop will be applied to all open views in 3D View Mode.
