For full documentation on the Publisher, see https://orbitgt.com/kb/3dm_publisher.

Preparations

Migrating an Orbit Server to new hardware, will go smooth and fast with nearly no downtime if well prepared.

Verify Publication Server Url

Verify and update all publications using // as server url.
EOS Console > Publishers > <publication> > Main

- Copy the Orbit installation directory Copy Orbit Installation directory to the new server and keep path and name on the new server exactly the same as on the old server. Copy the Orbit Data directory, if this directory is not included inside the Orbit installation directory.

- Verify Network configurations Make sure used data shares and network access are available on the new server. Verify the credentials of the user running the Orbit Service

- Transfer Orbit Services Stop the Orbit Service on the old server Install and start the Orbit Service on the new server

- Verifications Check the License status on the new server Check the availability of all Publications on the new server. Redirect traffic to your new server (IT).

If needed we can provide you with a temporary license to get the new server up and running and activated. You can complete and test the availability of all your publications and stop the old server when ready to transfer the license to the new server.
