Optimize Data
This pages describes the Orbit desktop additional tool “Optimize”.
Map 2D > Tools > … > Optimize
The ”Optimize Data” tool converts one or more supported resource files into a single corresponding Orbit native format file.
The “Convert Data” tool converts any supported_formats file into another format resource file, one on one.

Data Type
This tool can be used to convert different types of data : Images, Vectors or Pointcloud.
Choose the type of data for conversion.

File to be converted
Source Directory
Directory that contains the files to be converted.all files in the directory will be converted.
If option Include Subfolders is checked, files inside subdirectories will be converted.
CRS
Specify the input data coordinate system.
Target
Choose the storage location of converted data.
CRS

Add results to datasetlist
Converted files will be added in the Dataset List

Image Compression
OMIs are optimized for perfect performance in Orbit. Or in other words, recommended for use in Orbit. For more information, see : Orbit Multiresolution Image.
Options for Pointcloud data data
Strip Attributes
Options to not include some of the original attributes in the converted pointcloud. Checked attributes will not be retained.
Filter points
If checked, too dense poitnclouds or the denser then average parts of the pointcloud will be filtered based a proprietary algorithm, to ensure a homogeneous density.
Density
Predefine the pointcloud density based on the sensor type.
Convert
Start
Start the conversion.
Cancel
Stop the ongoing processing.
