Vector Dataset Legend

The default legend is prepared with the Orbit Desktop Tools.

Supported Basic Appearance Legend Parameters

Supported Classification Legend Parameters

Label Legend

Text rendering parameters belong to the Label legend, not the Basic Appearance legend. Configure them using Legend Editor > Labels in the Orbit Desktop Tools. See Dataset Legend : Labels and Dataset Legend Editor.

Supported Label Legend Parameters

Text Rendering

Halo

A halo adds a colored outline around the text to improve readability against the background. Halo visibility, color, and transparency are supported, including for text that follows a curved line.

Shadow

A drop shadow renders an offset copy behind the text. Its visibility, color, transparency, direction, distance, and blur can be configured. Drop shadows are also supported for text boxes and callouts.

Perspective shadows, including their light angle and length parameters, are not supported in the 3DM Viewer.

Resolve Collisions (Collision Detection)

When enabled, labels that overlap previously accepted labels are hidden. Collision detection works across vector layers for labels with this option enabled, including straight and curved text.

Labels with collision detection disabled remain visible and do not block other labels. Collision detection hides overlapping labels; it does not move them to an alternative position.

Dynamic Positions (Clip Objects to View)

When enabled, label positioning and orientation are calculated from the visible portion of the vector object rather than the entire object. This helps position labels for lines and areas that extend beyond the view.

Clipping is applied before label placement and collision detection. It does not modify the source geometry.
