Compare pointcloud to design

This page describes how to execute pointcloud comparison against design.

Main Toolbar > Extract > Compare pointcloud to design

Compare supposedly overlaying pointcloud and design files to locate and highlight inconsistencies.

Select a pointcloud in opc format from your workspace. Comparison will be executed against this pointcloud

Select a line, a polygon or a 3D-model from your workspace to use as reference. Your pointcloud will be analyzed against this reference element.

An offset value can be defined. The tool executes a distance calculation between the Design element and its closest neighbor in the pointcloud. Only the points within the offset distance will be used for comparison. The more distant ones will be ignore. This helps focusing the analysis.

The result of this processing is a distance-value attached to each point of the pointcloud that has been scanned. This value can be used to adjust color-ramp and display, at your convenience, to highlight incosistencies the most relevant way.
