====== Print Layout Editor ====== Use this tool to define a print layout template. When printing a map, select a template from the list. ===== The Editor Window ===== {{print_layout_window.gif?500&nolink}} This window shows the paper printable area, and tools to place components on a layout. Most components have editable properties. Bottom right shows the location and size of a selected component and the current viewing scale. A page layout is created for a specific paper size. Does not clear template name. | | {{action_page_setup.gif?20x20&nolink}} Page Setup... | Presents the Resource Browser to open a Dataset by adding it to the current Workspace. | | {{action_exit.gif?20x20&nolink}} Exit | Close Print Layout template editor. | ==== Page Setup ==== Use this standard settings window to define the paper size and orientation for your template. It is advised to do this first, before creating your layout. Paper size and orientation are stored in the template so that Orbit recognizes the templates that fit a chosen printer device. Also, do set the margins correct according to your target printing device. When printing, Orbit GIS refers to the margins set here to determine the page layout. This may differ from the margins required by your printing device. {{page_setup.gif?366x422&nolink}} ===== How to create a Print Layout template ===== A template is a combination of a page, margins and components. Each component can have properties. You can create, move and edit component properties. The toolbar shows file buttons, margin buttons and component editing buttons : | {{zoom_out.gif?20x20&nolink}} Zoom | Zoom in and out by a single click | | {{margins_show.gif?20x20&nolink}} Show Margins | On/Off : Shows the Margins as set in the Page Setup in a blue dashed line, and the bounds of each component as a blue solid line. | | {{margins_limit.gif?20x20&nolink}} Limit to Margins | On/Off : Limits the positioning of components to the margins. There is no UNDO function available ! | | {{nudge_left.gif?20x20&nolink}} Nudge tools | Moves the component a single pixel in either direction. | | {{action_help.gif?20x20&nolink}} Help | Opens these help files | Components are created by clicking on the component icon ion the right hand toolbar or selecting it fm the components menu. A new component is placed the center of the page. You can drag and move it around, resize and edit its properties. Use the other components to complete your layout. Set the properties of each component as you desire. Make sure that, when referring to an Image file, the image file must reside in the same directory as the template file. To be recognised by Orbit GIS, place your template file in the 'templates' folder within your Orbit GIS installation.
