====== Legend Editor : General Settings ======

Open the Legend Editor General Settings
  * from menu : Datasets > Legend Editors... > General Settings
  * right-click menu in the Dataset List : right-click dataset > Legend Editor... > General Settings

View the legend tab General Settings for :
  * viewing legend file name and location
  * adding a description to the legend file
  * showing the [[orbitgis:datasets:properties:contents:dataset_structure_contents|model names]] in the [[orbitgis:view:interface:dataset_list|dataset list legend display]]
  * modifying the sequence of [[orbitgis:datasets:properties:contents:dataset_structure_contents|model]] rendering
  * adding a scale range for [[orbitgis:introduction:orbit gis|spatial objects]]
  * adding a scale range for [[orbitgis:introduction:orbit gis|label and layout objects]]

| Legend File and Location | Displays location and name of the legend file.\\ If this field is empty, the current legend has never been saved. |
| Legend Description | Type in an optional legend description to distinguish different legends for the same dataset.\\ If their is only one legend for a dataset, it is probable to leave this field open.\\  The legend description will appear in the legend display, both in [[orbitgis:view:interface:dataset_list|dataset list]] and [[orbitgis:print:print_layout_editor|printout]]. |
| Show the model names | Thick this option to see the model names in the legend display, both in [[orbitgis:view:interface:dataset_list|dataset list]] and [[orbitgis:print:print_layout_editor|printout]]. |



===== Models Sequence =====

The [[orbitgis:view:interface:dataset_list|dataset list]] allows you to freely place datasets in a specific sequence from top to bottom. This is required in order to define which dataset are drawn on top of others.

Within a dataset, we have the same issue with models. It is possible to define the sequence in which the models must be drawn one on top of the other. This sequence can be set here, as a specification within the legend.
  * Of course, this is only meaningful for datasets with more than one [[orbitgis:datasets:properties:contents:dataset_structure_contents|model]].
  * Click on a model in the list and use the  move up or down button to move the selected model one place up or down in the list of models.

===== Scale Range =====





==== for Spatial Objects ====

It is possible to set a scale range visibility for the [[orbitgis:datasets:properties:contents:overview|spatial objects]] for each model particular. \\
One can choose the show the objects of the selected model always or to set a scale range.

| Largest Scale | This scale is greatest scale where the spatial objects are visible. \\ The spatial objects are visible when the map view scale is smaller then the given largest scale. |
| Smallest Scale | This scale is the smallest scale where the spatial objects are visible. \\ The spatial objects are visible when the map view scale is greater then the given smallest scale. |

** Example above **
  * The spatial objects are visible when the map view scale is smaller then the given largest scale and greater then te given smallest scale.
  * The objects are visible between the scales 1/50.000 and 1/1.000
