====== Dataset Properties - General ======

General properties provide information about the resource. A preferred User Name and Scale Limits are two items you can alter.

==== User Name ====

The name the user gives to the Dataset for easy reading. This name appears in the Dataset List and throughout the application. You can alter the name - press Apply. You can see the altered name in the Dataset List.

==== Dataset ====

The original Resource name.

==== Format ====

The physical storage format of the Resource e.g. shp, bmp, oid...

==== Location ====

The physical location of the Resource, either a file system, database or server.

==== Scale Range Limits ====

When, regarding the visibility of a dataset, displaying is only useful within a scale range, specify the range in this properties window. See also [[43:orbitgis:datasets:selected_dataset#Scale Limits|Setting the scale range]] using the Dataset Menu.

When setting "Show when display scale is between :" on, be sure to enter both scales.

You can use the current scale to set as Largest or Smallest scale using the [[43:orbitgis:datasets:selected_dataset#Scale Limits|Dataset Menu]].
