====== EOS Server Installation ======

===== Pre-Requirements =====

You require to install EOS while having **administrator rights** to your machine. The installation includes the registration of EOS as a permanent Service in your operating system. For Windows systems, you require at least **Windows2000** having service capabilities.

In the program menu, options appear to run the EOS Console, the JDSA or Java Data Source Administrator, and options to manage the EOS Service.

===== Installing =====

  - Run the InstallShield automated installation process to install EOS on your server.
  - Since EOS is a service, it is automatically installed as Service after finishing the installation. To make EOS fully operable, Start the EOS service by selecting the 'Start EOS as Service' item from the Programs menu.
  - Now run the EOS Console to start configuring EOS. Run EOS Console from the Programs menu or from the desktop icon.\\  Default login at installation is:\\ \\  Name : <anything>\\  Server : <nowiki>dox://</nowiki> <your machine> port = 1100\\  User : 'admin' or 'administrator'\\  Password : none\\ \\  <your machine> should be either 'localhost' or the name of your machine as known by your DNS, or the IP address of your machine as set in this example :

You should change the administrator login settings immediately to prevent unauthorized persons to login.

==== Administrative Account ====

An Administrator can use EOS Console to //administer the server// and nothing else.\\ 
The default administration account is : 
  * user = 'Administrator'
  * password = none

==== User Account ====

A User can //use and manipulate data// made available by the server and nothing else.\\ 
The default user account is : 
  * user = 'guest'
  * password = none

===== Running EOS on a different Port =====

Default, EOS runs on port 1100. When installing EOS as a service using InstallService.exe, this is the port that is assigned to communicate with EOS. 

If you require EOS to run on a different port, set the portnumber in the properties BEFORE installing it as a service. For more information, check the [[installation_parameters]].

===== Uninstalling =====

  - First STOP EOS from running by selecting the Stop EOS item from the Programs menu.
  - Then REMOVE EOS as service on your machine using the Remove Service item from the Programs menu.
  - Finally UNINSTALL EOS using the Uninstall item from the Programs menu.
