===== Concepts =====

The "Compare Point Cloud to Design" extension compares a point cloud to a design: polygons, polylines or a 3D model.

Use the generic workflow for [[254:desktop_ext:generic|]] to define the source file. 

===== Design =====

Design can be one of three options: polygons, polylines and 3D model.

Use the options to select a design. 
===== Options =====

The option shared by all design types is //Distance Max//. This distance defines the range of point cloud points that will be colorized, points that are too far from the design will not be evaluated.

For design option Polylines, there is an extra parameter -//Get absolute distance//-, that when false takes into account on which side of the line (in 2D) the point cloud points are.

===== Result =====

The result is a colorization of the point cloud points based on their distance to the design. 

The colors and ranges can be adjusted in section **Project Preferences**.
