An Orbit Vector File (*.ovf) is Orbit's native vector file storage format. \\
An OVF stores spatial objects (geometry) and attribute information. 

===== Structure and Reasons to use =====

An Orbit Vector File is a vector storage format with extended data structure capabilities compared to an Esri Shape file : [[111:technologies:basic_concepts:dataset_structure|]]. \\
This file format is platform independent. A single file groups spatial component, attribute component and indexes. An OVF is optimized for fast editing of vector data in Orbit.

  * Open dataset : [[111:orbitgis:library:index|]]
  * Edit geometry : [[111:orbitgis:tools:editing:overview|]]
