===== Rotate MapCanvas =====

The Rotate function allows rotation of the MapCanvas in order to optimize the view. The zoom level and center of the MapCanvas will not be modified.

  * Example: Rotate the MapCanvas so that north is pointing downwards and then reset the rotation of the MapCanvas so that north is pointing again upwards. 
  * Methodology:
       - Single click on the north direction button of the compass rose or open the [[110:orbitgis:mapcanvas:map:menus|Map 2D Navigation menu]] and choose "rotate".
       - Click, hold the button pressed and drag the MapCanvas to the preferred orientation. The north direction button at the compass rose shows the position of the north. 
       - To reset north back on top of the MapCanvas, click at the north direction button or open the [[110:orbitgis:mapcanvas:map:menus|Map 2D Navigation menu]] and choose "rotate to north".

===== Project images to other CRS =====

When the [[110:technologies:crs:crs_theory|]] of datasets and images is set, it is possible to project them to other MapCanvas Coordinate Reference Systems. 

  * Example: Open two datasets with a defined Coordinate Reference Systems: an image and a vector file. Change the MapCanvas CRS and check the consequences of this change.
  * Methodology:
    - Add two datasets to Orbit GIS with a defined CRS.
    - Click at the CRS in the [[110:orbitgis:mapcanvas:statusbar|]].
    - Change the CRS and choose another projection.
    - Overview the effect of this change in CRS and projection.

===== Zoom to cursor =====

A new feature in Orbit GIS is the possibility to zoom in or out to the current cursor position by scrolling. This makes it very easy to navigate to a specific location.

  * Example: Open a dataset with all countries of the world and zoom to Brazil by only using the scroll wheel of the mouse. 
  * Methodology:
    - Move the mouse pointer to the desired position.
    - Use the scroll wheel of the mouse to zoom in to the position of the mouse pointer.
    - Repeat the first two steps to zoom in to the desired position and the desired scale.

===== Search in the datasets =====

Use the search field in the [[110:orbitgis:toolbar:index|]] to search fast for attributes in the datasets. Typing anything in the search field and clicking <ENTER> will open the [[110:orbitgis:mapcanvas:selection:find|]] tool. 

  * Example: Search for attributes matching with "Spain" in the visible datasets.
  * Methodology:
    - Enter "Spain" in the search function in the main toolbar
    - Click <ENTER> to open the Find Object Tool and to see the attributes matching with the entered value.
