====== Orbit Desktop Asset Inventory Installing Updates ======

<note warning>\\ Do not overwrite an existing Orbit MM Installation with a new release. \\  </note>

To avoid configuration conflicts and to keep created Themes and Asset Inventories Objects it is required export them before installing the Update in a new directory.

This is the documentation to update an Orbit AIM Standalone to the current version : [[110:mobile_mapping:desktop:updates:current|]]. \\

===== 1. Export Themes and Runs======

In order to keep created Themes and Inventory Objects it is required to backup and export them before installing the New Release.
  - Export Themes to the Orbit Vector File **.ovf**\\ [[110:mobile_mapping:desktop:asset_inventory:manage:export_theme|]]
  - Backup the Inventory Snapshots and Documents folder \\ <Orbit Installation directory>/data
  - Backup the Configurations to Runs and Projects \\ <Orbit Installation directory>/program/services/ext_panorama

===== 2. Install New Release in new directory =====

To avoid configuration conflicts between Old and New Release do not overwrite an existing installation with the new version.

Install the Orbit AIM update in a new directory \\
e.g. C:\Program files\Orbit GT\Orbit MM Asset Inventory 11.0.1

This directory needs to be specified while installing the new version : 
===== 3. Request and Activate License =====

After installing the Update, you may need to [[110:technologies:licenses:index|request your new Orbit license]]. \\
According your order this upgrade can be included in your maintenance contract. \\

===== 4. Import Themes =====

Import the exported Themes and restore the Inventory documents :
  - Import the exported Themes (.ovf files) \\ [[110:mobile_mapping:desktop:asset_inventory:manage:import_theme|]]
  - Restore the backup of Inventory Snapshots and Documents. \\ %localappdata%\Orbit\Orbit MM Asset Inventory\services\ext_inventory_suite
  - Restore the Configurations to Runs and Projects \\ <Orbit Installation directory>/program/services/ext_mobile_mapping
