Toolbox : Split Datasets

Introduction

Use this tool to split datasets by model or attribute table

In Orbit GIS, a dataset can contain several layers (called 'models'), and each model can have attribute rows of different attribute tables. This complex structure can be stored in the Orbit native OVF or OVFT formats. But also CAD data appears in this way when opened in Orbit GIS. See also Understanding Orbit Datastructures.

This tool converts a complex dataset into simpler datasets, containing only one model, and optionally containing only one attribute table, such as an ESRI Shape file.

Overview

Choose a source file, and set a target filename and file extension.

Then specify the option. Note that some formats cannot hold more than one attribute table, which will oblige you to set the second option or loose data.

Click go to process. In any way, the source file will not be altered. OLG (Legend) and ORD (descriptor) file will be processed along.
