Working with Annotations
What are annotations ?
Annotations or Redlining are tools to complement the map data with temporary notes or sketches. Orbit GIS provides a range of annotation types that can be stored in an annotation file or as attribute (only in OVF format). Since Orbit annotations are georeferenced, they remember exact positions and can be exchanged with colleges.
The Basics : Annotations and Annotation Objects
An Annotation consists out of some Annotation Objects. An Annotation Object is a rectangle, a line, a text (see annotation types below).
An Annotation can be temporary, can be stored in a file, or can be stored as attribute to a spatial object (see Dataset Properties specifications).
The Tool
The Annotation tool is a toolbar with file access, object selection and drawing functions. Open the toolbar by selecting the menu option Tools → Annotations and Redlining… .

Orbit annotations come in the following types :
You can draw any of these annotations anywhere on your map and assign private graphic appearance to each one of them.
Annotation Visibility
Annotations are always visible, you cannot switch them off. To hide annotations, you have to clear them. If you want to keep your annotations, first save them in a file, then clear. Open the file again to see the annotations.
Annotation Printing
Annotations appear on a print as you see them on screen.
