What's New for 24.00.04
3DM Manage and Extract
Annotate Reality Data for Linear Feature Detectors
Analyze Engine
- The AI Detection has changed “Cancel Now” option has been change to “Stop” . The stop function will not delete any detected results.
- The AI Detection message for required version has been changed to be more clear.
- There is now support for detector.json files with the Analysis Engine.
- Segmentation 2D and Object 2D Jobs can now be processed with oriented photos.
- Incomplete results from failed AI Detection can now be imported within Manage and Extract.
- Segmentation3D job can now create multiple spatial object types.
- Already classified Point Cloud can now be used to create AI Detection Jobs or to reclassify for new Detection Jobs.
- GeoJson are now an export option for Analysis Jobs.
- The Analysis Engine will now read the CRS from the point cloud ORD file and will close upon Manage and Extract closing.
Annotate Orthophoto for Segmentation 2D
- 2D Segmentations on Images can now be read and write with the COCO Dataset structure.
Bentley Integration
- The Bentley IMS login has a reduced callback wait time reduced to use the application.
- There are a better error messages if a user has trouble using the Bentley IMS login option.
Centralize AI Detector Library
- The AI Library can now fetch AI Detectors from the cloud, set in the AI Library, and use for detection.
- Both local AI Detectors and Cloud AI Detectors can be used in AI Detection.
- Cloud Detectors can be downloaded and used as local AI Detectors.
- Local AI Detectors are now stored in a user-data folder.
- The Sync Cloud Library button will only appear for users that have access to Reality Management.
- The Sync Cloud Library will remove any Desktop AI Detectors that are no longer available from the Cloud Library.
- The AI Library now has its own extension.
- There is now a progress bar when syncing the cloud AI Detectors with the local detectors.
Display AI Detector Evaluation
- AI Detection results of 3D Objects and Boxes from multi-class detectors will now be with improved with legend classes and can take the source legend into account.
Evaluate Quality of Detected Features
- It is now possible to overlay the the results scaled legends of point and line features within the Mapping Image Views.
Display and Navigate Photo Positions
- Planar photos can now be navigated from the Ctrl and Zoom Wheel Key.
Enhance Feature Import and Hosting
- Features that were Spatial Type 2D M and 3D M can now be imported as a Feature Class.
- Multi-part geometry with feature class can now be uploaded into Reality Management.
- The default supported formats for WFS on top of Reality Management are now ovf, ovt and shp.
Enhance CRS/GCS
- The MODEL_TRANSFORMATION tag is now a readable attribute within the application for GeoTiffs.
Enhance Point Cloud Selection
- A new option 'Height Margin' to 'Point Cloud Annotation Editor' has been added.
- The Point Cloud Selection can is improved to only select visible classes from a Point Cloud.
- OPC files can now also be made from the Point Cloud Selection Sidebar and exported as individual classes.
Generate and Consume iModel 3DTiles Mesh Export
- The Cloud Catalog subtab iModel has been added and with the possibility to Start, Get, Open, Create, and Delete iModels now via the UI.
Improve Upload of Reality Data
- The wait cursor now loads consistently when utilizing the services within the Cloud Catalog.
- The Resource filter now is case insensitive and when uploading data into Reality Management.
Import & Improve Reality Data Interoperability
- WMS connections are now able to take read case sensitivity from the parameter “content-type” in the response headers.
- For security reasons, the Reality Data Service now has the token removed at the end of Feature Class and Reality Data “Get Capabilities”.
- The 'CCImageCollection' format now has many added extra file extensions allowed for upload(EG.tif,.tiff, .rw2, etc.).
- A popup notification will appear if trying to download data Reality Data with Size a “0”.
- Reality Data being authoring within an iTwin now has a column in the iTwin Catalog and will have have an icon and tooltip to show the authorization in progress.
- 3Dtiles Generated from the Cloud Catalog> IModel 3Dtiles can now be added back for Reality Management Upload via Drag-and-Drop
- Fixed an issue where there was an incorrect URL from the “GetCapabilities” from Vector resources.
- An import.ini file can now be used with XYZ and PTS files.
- The error message when importing E57 files has been improved if the E57 does not have photos.
- Vector data can be imported from DXF, if FME application is installed. VERIFY*
- Classified point cloud data will now retain is classification after using the Split Datasets tool.
- 3Dtiles data can now be streamed from the iTwin Catalog Reality Data subtab.
- A GeoJson can now be uploaded into Reality Management.
- A KMZ can now be uploaded into Reality Management.
- OWMS and OWFS resources can now be created from iTwin Catalog.
Manage and Display Extended Metadata
- The extended metadata options are now available on Desktop, and offer dynamic size adjustments, and a vertical scrollbar.
- If additional metadate fields are filled out, its now possible to see in the Local Catalog Sidebar.
- Tags are now moved from the Inspect Panel to the Metadata panel.
- The search query will also search for Metadata tags from the Local Catalog.
- Search results in the Local Catalog have a search matching information, so show where the search found the results in Selected Local Catalog Data.
- The Local Catalog Sidebar will now only display the relevant metadata column and information within each Mapping Resource.
Manage iTwin Feature Class
- The Feature Class service is now multi region, which now allows Feature Classes to be copied into Itwins that are stored on different datacenters.
- The Import Feature Class Procedure now shows the Source CRS on Import Feature Class and both the source and target CRS in Insert Feature Class.
Manage iTwin Repositories
- Fixed an issue where the Cloud Catalog would not be available in the Main Manage toolbar if the Web 3DGL Viewer was open.
- There are now Icons in the Cloud Catalog by the name of the iTwin and iModel.
- An ID Column is now added and populated in the Cloud Catalog subtab iTwins.
- The “iModel Mesh Export” has been renamed to “iModel 3D Tiles” and the text has been changed to 3D Tiles.
- You can now get both Root file SAS URL and Blob Container URL in the Cloud catalog iModel 3DTiles subtab.
- The ID of a created 3Dtiles from the iModel 3DTiles subtab has now been removed from the display name.
- All name of Reality Data can now be copied to clipboard from the Cloud Catalog Sidebar.
- The opening of iModel 3D Tiles from the iTwin Catalog is faster.
- The Cloud Catalog has been renamed to iTwin Catalog.
- The test “iTwin” will no longer cover the user name when logging into an iTwin.
- A new drop-down is in the iTwin Catalog allows filtered selections of My iTwin, Recent, and Favorite.
- A load more buttons is available if the user has more than 1000 iTwins.
- The root file of the Reality Data is available in the iTwin Catalog sidebar.
- The root file SAS url is now available for Reality Data with a right-click.
- The Owner column in the iTwin Catalog has been removed and added into the iTwin Catalog Sidebar.
Support Discrete Photos
- A extra Column “Photos” has been added into the Local Catalog to easier manage if Mapping Runs contain this imagery.
- Editing New Mapping Runs to support Discrete Photos has been simplified
- Discrete photos can also be added even if photos do not contain Geolocation data.
- The Image Annotation Editor can work with Discrete Photos.
- Discrete Photos can be used as input for AI Detection.
- Image Annotations to ContextScene will now work for Discrete Photos.
- Discrete Photos can be now be deleted on Consolidation. This step is enabled from the Discrete Image View.
Maintenance
- The Task Manager now has Delegated Task set to active in the Task Manager.
- The Task Manager, Local Catalog, and Delivery Extension have had minor changes in components and column names.
- Fixed a bug where certain formatted KMLs with a different “TimeResolution” would not open.
- The amount of rendering Viewport overlays is reduced on default, and will only be added when when projects are opened.
- Its now possible to read and write Version 6 of ContextScene files.
- Mapping runs with many configuration files now takes less time to open within the UI.
- AI Training submission emails now include the iTwin ID in the auto-generated email.
- Within the Mapping Extension, a Mapping Icon is placed before the name of the open Mapping Resource.
- The Query Builder has had a layout update with more space between components, enlarged window, sorts alphabetically, and selects all objects on startup.
- Its now possible to have Black set as the target background color when Optimizing Imagery from Directory.
- A popup notification will now appear showing the error if there is an issue converting point cloud data.
- The local catalog will no longer automatically open if a user has added a 3D Tiles made from the Cloud Catalog.
- A System column is now added in the Local Catalog for Mapping Resources.
- If an attribute with a Value List is already filled in, it possible to see the other values in the value list drop-down.
- The layout steps of the Import Mapping run has been made consistent.
- The ContextDetector.json file can be read and write like ContextScene.json.
- The Generate Data > Create Snapshots will now only appear for Mapping Runs with Panorama or Planar photos.
- Updated the free AI Training timeline until January 31st 2025.
- Asset Resources now have an faster and more user-friendly way to Generate Classified Point Cloud Datasets from the Generate Data > Merge Point Cloud Selection Tool.
- There is a better notification message if a conversion job is already in process in the Convert Data Sidebar.
- The Target CRS will auto update if a Vector resource is added to the Convert Sidebar from drag-and-drop.
- The large dataset will list a warning will only once per dataset in a running application. Additionally, the warning now only appear when dataset have over 1 million records.
- The Task Manager now has a search field.
- The “Send to Task Manager” message is now properly updated if an UI component using this sidebar is updated.
- Its is now possible to import multiple Vector resources to the Local Catalog.
- The Reality Management Sidebar will now automatically fill in the name of a Resource selected from the Dataset list by the “Upload to Reality Management” option.
- The output of Refined Envelopes is now less complex.
- The output of Smoothing Tool with lines will now better follow curved features.
- The ConvertImage.bat Script has been updated to be read “quality” and “JPEGQuality”.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where a .Tif extension could not be imported.
- Fix a bug where .tif images could not be imported in Mapping Run.
- Fixed a issue were Feature Classes could not be copied to different datacenters.
- Fixed a bug where Asset Resources Snapshot and Point Cloud did not get properly imported after Inserting into a New Asset Resource.
- Converting ContextScene into a GeoJSON will now work as expected.
- Fixed a bug where the application would freeze after refreshing a new applied CRS.
- Fixed a bug where a Refined Envelope would not recalculate after importing new data.
- Fixed a bug where a ContextScene file would fail if it contained Image 2D Objects.
- Fixed a bug where the Edit Mapping Resource sometimes had an empty Table of Contents.

3DM Cloud
The 3DM Cloud includes the 3DM core and 3DM Viewer improvements.

- Metadata capabilites within the console have been revamped and reworked:
- Spec and Tags has been renamed to Specs and Metadata
- Additional Attributes have been added

Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where unlinked Resources from Reality Management could not be managed after unlink.
- Fixed a bug where Catalog Search and Sort by Owner wasn't working.
3DM Publisher
Display, Inspect, and Extract Features
- A new View Action Setting “Report a Problem” has been created. From this, the user can:
- Obtain a Photo
- Make annotations
- Add additional contextual information
- Send Reports to the Console
- Manage and View the Reports from the Console at the Publication level
Improve Orbit Publisher Feature Service
- Photo Position and Simplified Trajectory Resources are also made available for Mobile Mapping Resources.
Manage and Display Extended Metadata
- Metadata capabilities within the console have been reworked:
- Spec and Tags has been renamed to Specs and Metadata
- Additional Attributes have been added
- Metadata is now searchable from the Catalog
Support for External Access Providers (Open ID Connect)
- There is now support for Access Providers using Open ID Connect.
- Access Providers can be managed from the Console System Panel.
Maintenance
- The configuration files can now be reloaded by the System Console.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that caused some attributes to not be available when publishing vector data using Publisher Feature Service.
- Fixed a bug that caused the Console to crash if the “created_at” field was empty in old resource declarations.
- Fixed a bug that prevented direct links opening to previously made Publications.
3DM Viewer
Add and Enhance Geocoding Services
- The Ordnance Geocoding Service has been added to the Viewer.
- The What3Words Geocoding Service has been added to the Viewer.
- The Geocoding Search bar has an updated placeholder text and a tooltip to add clarity on which Geocoding service is being used.
Display and Navigate Photos
- If Mapping Runs have both been imported with both Panorama and Planar photos, there is a new render capability to have the Panoramas rendered in the background of Planar views.
- A horizontal scrollbar has been added into the photo carousel.
- The Geocoding search now works with Mapping Resources added to each Publication. You can search for Mapping Resource, Mapping Child Resources, and exact Photo ID.
- Full resolution JPEGs can now be downloaded from the Image Carousel.
- Searching for a replacement photo is now forced to search around the View Position.
Display, Inspect, and Extract Features
- Object Search is limited to 5000.
- Resource Children Footprints can now be set to new colors from the Viewer and applied at the Console.
- Resource Children Envelopes are no longer shown at Large Scale levels.
- The Viewer measurement behavior is now in line with Desktop applications and pressing “clear” stops the measure function.
- The Viewer has added the Basic Catenary and Box measure techniques to be in line with Desktop.
Download Images from Carousel
- Imagery download is possible if Mapping Runs only have original JPEG imagery.
- From the View Action Settings, the Download option now allows for Full resolution images to be downloaded from the Alternative Photo Carousel.
Import and Improve Data Interoperability
- Individual Mapping Resources can now be exposed and consumed when used as a WFS Service.
Improve Reality Data Upload
- Vector data with a Label Legend using multiple attributes can can now be rendered.
Improve User Experience
- The table filter and search behavior has been made consistent with Page, Sorting, and Column visibility.
- The contents in the Viewer Sidebar have been adjusted to move allow room for more characters in other languages.
- The View Action Menu is now configurable with the possibility for individual View Actions to be anchored.
- The Snapshot Sidebar will now have an option to automatically create a Publication thumbnail.
- The Snapshot Sidebar now has the option to save the Snapshot as Publication Thumbnail.
Manage and Display Extended Metadata
- The Resource Extent is now added to the Viewer Metadata. Additionally, the Resource Extent CRS can be toggled by the Resource CRS, the Display CRS, and WGS84.
- The Viewer Resource Metadata CRS tooltip will show the EPSG Code, to help best differentiate if many similar CRS are present.
- The Cursor can now dynamically show the Curser Position information from the Viewer Setting > General > Display Cursor Position.
- The Column Width of the Metadata fields are fixed, and character will now move to a new row if necessary.
- A “Most Recent” slider option is now available in the “Specs and Metadata”. This user-set option allows the possibility to filter specifically to this data within timelines.
Support Discrete Photos
- Discrete Photos will not open in Spherical Image View, but in the dedicated Discrete Photo View.
Maintenance
- The WMS format will now request images with transparant background, when UseAlphaChannel is enabled
- The Viewer now has all updated references to the new Bentley API endpoints.
- The Viewer is using updated versions of React (version 18) and react-router (version 6).
- The banner for loading dynamic resources should no longer disappear when loading.
- Dynamic Resource Loading from the Reference Map is now configurable.
- The photo search performance within Dynamic Groups is now now improved.
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug that made the PDOK search suggestions unusable.
- Fixed a bug that caused the viewer to crash after selecting an Object from the Inspector Sidebar.
- Fixed a bug that had an incorrect order of alternative photos Oblique Mapping Runs.
- Fixed a bug that had focus position of Street Level images intersect with the ground.
- Fixed a bug where WFS were not rendered on the Reference View.
- Fixed a bug where a photo could close and notification would display even if the render mode and resources exist.
- Fixed a bug where Panorama FOV was not updating in real time.
- Fixed a bug where draped Terrain had an incorrect fallback Z Value.
- Fixed a bug where the geometry of a terrain model was still present, after closing the resource.
- Fixed a bug where the floors filters were still present after removing a resource with floor in the workspace.
3DM Viewer SDK
The 3DM Viewer SDK includes all 3DM Viewer improvements.
Display and Navigate Photos
- A function getThumbnail(String photoId) has been added, allowing a return thumbnail of a requested photo ID.
- A function getPhotoThumbnail(MapObject photoObject) has been added.
- A function onPickPositionRequested is now added, allowing the possbility to open Imagery Bentley iTwinX and 3rd Party Reference Viewers.
- The getFootprints2D will now only select the applicable footprint positions within the requested bounding box.
Import and Improve Data Interoperability
Improve UX and Performance
- The loading time of the Javascript SDK has been reduced with a new mechanism for caching, allowing more caching and reduced loading time in later SDK Viewer loads.
- Better representation of Alternative Photos are now provided with the support of a the function openPhoto() for FoV objects.
Setups, Build, and Release Pipeline
Support for External Access Providors
- There is now SDK Support for OpenID Connect
- SDK Auto-login is now possible with external access providers.
Maintenance
- The getResourceMetadata function now provides additional wgsbounds metadata.
- Layers names in the ESRI Experience Builder have been updated.
- The Selection of Publications has been improved when choosing from the suggestion list, and have sorted alphabetically.
- The function openSession has been documented, allowing the possiblity for the Publicaitonn to stay open with other API interactions.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that did not automatically open another available Mapping Run in the Viewer if still the run was still active.
- Fixed a bug that occasionally did not open a resource with a compound CRS of 9003.
