• Updates on Image Annotations
  • Procedure
    Several improvements have been done to align the import of blur, erase and object image annotations combined with the implementation of ContextInsights.
  • Preferences
    Enable/Disable the overlay of image object annotations and image segmentations and set the color and transparency. Predefine the size of the rectangles to be used in the Image Annotation Editor.
  • ContextInsights Version 2.0
    Version 2.0 of the ContextInsight scene xml can be imported as image annotations. Version 1.0 is also supported. The OrbitCameraLink.ini next to the xml file can be used to link the Scene Image Path to orbit camera directories.
• Create Image Annotation XML at Optimize Imagery
  Image annotation xml files for original images are correctly generated and recalculated at optimize imagery.
• New Linear Reference Dataset Management and Usabilities
  • Linear reference datasets (ovf and ovt) in the installation path ../program/system/linear_ref can automatically be used for linear referencing. Both for measurements and for Search and Focus via the search field at the top.
  • Values from corresponding attributes are copied from the linear reference dataset to the recordable dataset at Copy to Feature.
  • The offset attribute in the linear reference dataset is also applied on the search and focus functionality.
  • The Map Canvas Display unit defines the entered distance at Search and Focus.
  • Point vector datasets are no longer used as linear reference datasets.
  • Lines from line vector datasets are no longer sorted and connected.
• New 3D Annotation Modifications
  • Add description
  • Set annotation icon size (in pixels). At the selection of a new symbol, the size of the symbol image is selected.

• Optimize Resources
  • Optimizing files from a resource directory with subfolders included, has the option to filter on the filename.
• Pointcloud Classification
  • Pointcloud classes are written to the ord file at the import of classification.
  • Pointcloud classes are listed in the dataset list.
• Enlarged Point Cloud Sample Check for RGB Values
  The first 1000 sample points from LAS files are used to identify 16-bit or 8-bit RGB values.
• Drag & Drop Ops
  Pointcloud selection files can be opened via drag & drop of the ops file. The selection is applied to the active point cloud dataset in the dataset list.
• Focus To Coordinate in Object Inspector
  Focus to coordinate can also be applied in the spatial attribute component of the object inspector.
• Display Measurement Unit Overlay
  The unit if the measurement is included in the image overlay.
• Optimize Non 2×1 Original Spherical Images
  Original images that don't have resolution 2×1, are made 2×1 at optimize imagery by adding black pixels at the bottom of the image.
• Template Parameter for Absolute GPS Time
  The parameter 'PARAM_TIMESTAMP_OFFSET' in the mapping resource omr file can be used in the point cloud import.ini file to convert GPS week time to absolute GPS time.
• Divide Tags in 3 Categories
  The tags preference panel includes 3 categories. Resource tags are used on reference and mapping resources. Image annotation tags are used in the image annotation editor. System tags are used for both resources and image annotations. The labels xml structure from ContextInsights can be imported as tags.
• Reduced Offline Start-Up Time
  Starting the Orbit application has been improved by ignoring the online Orbit Symbol Libraries in the installation.
• Manage CRS from User AppData
  Private CRS can be easily added by the + button in the Coordinate Reference System Selection window. Restarting the application to see the CRS is no longer required. Hitting the refresh button will reload the CRS from the AppData and the installation system folder.
• Copy Selected Polyline/Area Objects Into Point Dataset
  The selected polyline or area objects can be split up into points at copying them to a point dataset. Matching attributes values are copied to the new point objects.

• The drop-down list of attribute formulas was not working for database vector resources.
• Only 100 projects from PWCS were loaded in the ContextShare extension. Patched on March 4, 2022.

The 3DM Content Manager includes all 3DM Core improvements.

• Create Planars From Panorama
  The process data procedure 'Planar Pano' allows creating planar imagery from panorama images. The number of planars, tilt, field of view, image width, and height can be set.
• Catalog: Tooltip on Resource Name
  A tooltip has been added to the resource name to overcome display issue for long resource names.
• Directly Use Colorized Point Cloud
  After colorizing the point cloud, the new point cloud file is renamed to point_cloud.opc so that it can be directly used in the mapping resource. The previous point cloud is renamed to point_cloud.original.opc.
• Orbit Script Fully Uses User AppData
  Running scripts on Content Manager no longer requires copying the license file to the installation.

• Cloud Named Users with both the roles of Resource Manager and Resource Uploader were not able to manage resources.
• New delivery could not be created if there was an existing delivery where Clip by Dataset was used.

• Simplified vs Advanced Configuration
  The default simplified startup of the Import & Upload Tool gives a more user-friendly experience to prepare data for ProjectWise ContextShare, 3DM Cloud and 3DM Publisher. Switching to the advanced configuration can be done via the Help icon > Startup Configuration.

• Cloud Named Users with both the roles of Resource Manager and Resource Uploader were not able to manage resources.

The 3DM Feature Extraction includes all 3DM Core improvements.

• New Extension ContextInsights
  The beta extension ContextInsights allows running Image 2D Objects, Image 2D Segmentation and Pointcloud 3D segmentation jobs on mapping resources, making use of ContextInsights tools. The setup can be configured via the dedicated Insights preference panel.
• Add Constants to Image Annotation Editor
  Image constants can be defined in the image_pixel.ini. These constants are added at the top of the created annotation xml file and apply to all annotations in that same file. The image annotation editor displays these constants separately.
• Image Annotation Check at Conversion to Objects
  The number of annotations are no longer checked at opening of the extension. At the start of the conversion, the number of coordinate or bound annotations are checked and displayed in the result.
• Asset Inventory: Create Box from Point Cloud
  Automatically generate 3D boxes for Asset Inventory objects that have a point cloud file associated with it.
• Asset Inventory: Create Snapshots
  Automatically generate snapshots for Asset Inventory objects by selecting one theme and one mapping run. Define the snapshot resolution, used cameras and number of snapshots via the dedicated Assets preferences.
• Use Specific Pointcloud Classes for Semi-Automated and Automated Detection
  In the detectors preference panel, point cloud classes can be included and excluded for semi-automated/automated measurements/extensions.
• Lines of Interest for Clearance Checker
  Next to areas of interest and cluster points, you now have the option to use lines of interest. For every line, the lowest clearance will be calculated.
• New Extension 'Reflectors Analysis'
  The beta extension 'Reflectors Analysis' allows detecting small road reflectors along a line.
• Added 3DM Cloud Upload
  The 3DM Cloud Upload extension has been added to all Feature Extraction products.
• Added ContextShare
  The ContextShare extension has been added to all Feature Extraction products.
• Added Blur and Erase
  The Blur and Erase extension has been added to Feature Extraction Standard and Pro products.
• Set Profile Point Sequence by Order of Measuring
  The profile point sequence can also be set to follow the order of measuring points. The Left-Right is still available, see the setting 'Profile point sequence' in the Profiles & Cross Sections extension.
• Manage Themes Table Sort
  The themes in the Manage Themes table can be sorted on all available fields.

• Duplicate theme in Manage Themes didn't copy the attributes to the new theme.
• Incorrect result datasets were created on feature extraction extensions when using Geographic coordinate system. Patched on March 4, 2022.

The 3DM Viewer includes all 3DM Core improvements.

• Color Pointcloud Below Specific Height
  Via the new point cloud legend option 'Fixed Color Below Z', the selected point cloud can be rendered in a specific color up until a defined height. For example, flooding simulations can be created.
• New 3D Annotation Modifications
  • Add description
  • Set annotation icon size (in pixels). At the selection of a new symbol, the size of the symbol image is selected.
  • Set the maximum view depth via the Create Annotations sidebar or the corresponding viewer setting underneath image views.
• New Sidebar 'View Annotations'
  • Clicking on annotations will open this sidebar, displaying the label, tooltip, hyperlink and description.
  • The existing Annotations sidebar has been renamed to 'Create Annotations'.
• Set Photo Position Size and Transparency on Spherical Views
  The size and transparency of photo positions on spherical views can be set in the footprint legend editor.
• Resource Footprint Color Used for Field of View Coordinate
  The field of view coordinate on the reference view now has the same color as the resource footprint.
• Display Annotations on Reference View
  The Reference View setting 'Display Annotations' will display 3D Annotations on the reference view.
• Define Snapshot Name
  The name of the downloaded snapshot can be defined in the snapshot sidebar and in the URL via the parameter 'Filename'.
• Display Slice View on All Views
  The slice view is now also displayed on the reference view and image views.
• Apply 'Clip Pointcloud by Slice View' on All Views
  The slice point cloud clip by slice view is now also applied on the reference view and image views.
• Correct Display of Image Annotations on Spherical View
  By directly reading the width and height of the opened image, the image annotations are now also displayed correctly on spherical views.
• Display Measurement Unit Overlay
  The unit of the current measurement is included in the image overlay.
• Direct Download of Measurement
  After changing the format of the downloaded measurement file, the download is triggered directly. Removing the additional click to download the file.

  • After searching along the LRS, the zooming is no longer adjusted. Only focus.
  • The name of the LRS and the unit of the distance are displayed as a place holder in the search field.

• Navigation Gesture 'Invert Tilt'
  Option to reverse the direction of tilting. Default settings (switch icon is disabled): Push down for more nadir view
• Navigation Gesture 'Pan Only'
  The previous pan gesture, now 'Pan + Height' is accompanied by the gesture 'Pan Only' where the upper 1/3 of the view is not used to adjust the height.
• Navigation Gesture 'Rotate (Cursor Position)'
  The previous rotate gesture, now 'Rotate (View Center)' is accompanied by the gesture 'Rotate (Cursor Position)' where the gesture rotates around the cursor 3D position.
• Left and Right Click Navigation
  The middle mouse gesture can now also be used by clicking the left and right mouse button at the same time.
• Line-Break On Words for Annotation Description
  Line-break on annotation description now happens on words and not characters. Patched on February 26, 2022.
• Add Viewer Setting 'Clickable Photo Positions'
  The clickable photo positions are disabled for all publications to avoid performance issues. To enable them again, go the Navigation viewer settings. Patched on February 26, 2022.

• 'Search by Geocoding' is only available if a geocoding engine has been set.
• 'Search by Attributes' is only available if the inspector sidebar is available.

• Long resource names in the resource sidebar are displayed on multiple lines.

• Clickable footprints were not working on resource groups.
• Slice views drawn with a double-click at the end, returned empty.
• Downloading a point cloud via the view action menu was not triggered.
• The resource footprint view depth of one mapping resource was applied on all mapping resources in spherical views.
• View Annotations sidebar was not opened at clicking on annotations. Patched on February 26, 2022.
• Publication with geocoding service Google returned a black sidebar. Patched on February 26, 2022.
• Workspace with resource in CRS with correction grid, resulted in slower performance. Patched on Febuary 28, 2022.

The 3DM Viewer SDK includes all 3DM Viewer improvements.

• New Function 'CloseSession'
  Via CloseSession, the viewer session can be closed by a specific action. Avoiding the 15 minutes of inactivity waiting time to free up sessions.
• New Function 'SidebarVisible'
  The historical left and right sidebar have been merged into a single sidebar. Therefore, they were merged into one action 'SidebarVisible'. The previous two settings are redirected to the new action to be backward compatible.

• Fullscreen mode in Firefox didn't display the viewer completely.
• The freed-up window space was not fully used at changing the sidebar visibility (doAction).

The 3DM Publisher includes the 3DM core and 3DM Viewer improvements.

• Resource Specs & Tags: Status
  The status in the specs & tags of resources, displays the timestamp for creating and reloading the resource.
• Annotation Objects Specs & Tags: Status + Size
  The status & size of annotation objects, displays the size and the timestamp for creating and reloading the object.
• Tooltip on Reload Button
  A tooltip has been added to the reload button to indicate that this action only checks the availability and accessibility of the files.
• Unavailable Resources in Viewer Catalog
  Resource that are not ready to be used are no longer displayed in the Viewer Catalog.
• Warning at Creating Already Existing Publication
  When creating a publication with a name that is already used, the console gives a correct error message.
• Warning at Creating Annotation Object with Large Size
  When adding an annotation object with size larger than 10 MB. The recommended size for streaming performance is less than 2 MB.

• Regression bug on autologin (patched to 21.10)

The 3DM Cloud includes the 3DM core and 3DM Viewer improvements.

• Bentley IMS Login
  • Display ProjectWise ContextShare Projects
    For IMS login and Resource Managers, the new item 'ContextShare' displays a list of PWCS projects that the login has access to.
  • Load PWCS Resources
    The PWCS projects give a list of available PWCS resources. The supported formats can be added to the Catalog by toggling on the corresponding slider. In the Catalog, the PWCS resources are indicated by the datacenter equal to ContextShare.

• Warning at Creating Annotation Object with Large Size
  When adding an annotation object with size larger than 10 MB. The recommended size for streaming performance is less than 2 MB.
• Removed UI Restriction to Combine Resource Manager and Resource Uploader
• Obsolete User Role 'Billing Agent' Removed
  The Billing Agent user role has been removed as it has become obsolete.

• Publications could not be made inaccessible for guest users (patched to 21.10).
• The user role 'Resource Uploader' was not available for legacy 3DM Cloud accounts (patched to 21.10.).
• The cloud invitation confirmation email was always sent. Even when disabled.
