# Basic 3D Measurement Functions

#### Position

**Point**

Point measurement.

How to measure : (1) point.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured point.

**Point height to ground**

Point measurement and height above approximate street surface^{1)}.

Conditions : Mapping Run including definition of camera height above ground. Street-level image view.

How to measure : (1) point.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured point and height above approximate street surface.

**Point drop to ground**

Point measurement dropped to approximate street surface and height above this surface. ^{2)}.

Conditions : Mapping Run including definition of camera height above ground. Street-level image view.

How to measure : (1) point.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured point dropped to approximate street surface and height above this surface.

**Point height to horizontal reference plane**

Point measurement and height above horizontal reference plane.

How to measure : (1) horizontal ground reference plane point, (2) point of interest.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured point and height above horizontal reference plane.

**Point drop to horizontal reference plane**

Point measurement dropped to horizontal reference plane and height above this reference plane.

How to measure : (1) horizontal ground reference plane point, (2) point of interest.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured point dropped to horizontal reference plane and height above this plane.

**Center of circle by 3 points on circumference**

Circle measurement that can be saved as a point feature.

How to measure : (1) any point on the circle perimeter (2) any point on the circle perimeter (3) a point on the circle perimeter to define the arc.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured point in center of the circle, 3D area, 3D lenght of perimeter, 3D radius.

**Angle between 2 lines**

Angle measurement defined by 2 lines.

How to measure : (1)&(2) 2 coordinates on first line, (3)&(4) 2 coordinates on second line.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured corner point, angle.

**Angle with 3 points**

Angle measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) Coordinate of corner point, (2) coordinate on first leg of the angle, (3) coordinate on the second leg of the angle.

Results : xyz coordinates of measured corner point, angle.

#### Distance

**Distance XYZ**

Distance measurement, straight line between 2 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) start point, (2) end point.

Results : xyz distance between measured points, slope and slant.

**Distance XY and Z**

Distance measurement, straight line between 2 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) start point, (2) endpoint.

Results : xyz, xy and z distance between measured points, slope and slant.

**Distance XYZ, XY and Z**

Distance measurement, straight line between 2 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) start point, (2) endpoint.

Results : xy and z distance between measured points, slope and slant.

**Vertical distance**

Distance measurement, straight vertical line between 2 coordinates.

How to measure : measure 2 coordinates.

Results : z distance between measured points.

**Horizontal distance**

Distance measurement, straight horizontal line between 2 coordinates.

How to measure : measure 2 coordinates.

Results : xy distance between measured points.

**Perpendicular distance to reference line**

Perpendicular distance measurement between a horizontal reference line and a point.

How to measure : (1) reference line 1st point, (2) reference line 2nd point, (3) point of interest.

Results : xyz, xy and z perpendicular distance between reference line and measured point, slope.

**Fixed horizontal distance parallel to reference line**

Fixed horizontal distance measurement between a selected reference line and a point.

Conditions : Enable Linear reference measurement option from 3D Hover settings and select a line vector dataset from dataset list.

How to measure : (1) point of interest.

Results : xyz, xy and z horizontal distance between reference line and measured point. Lenght along reference line.

**Perpendicular distance to reference plane**

Perpendicular distance measurement between a reference plane and a point.

Conditions : Point cloud required, 3D Hover is used to get reference plane from initial point measurement.

How to measure : (1) reference plane point, (2) point of interest.

Results : xyz distance and xyz coordinate of measured point.

**Vertical distance with Ground**

Distance measurement, vertical straight line between 2 coordinates.

How to measure : Measure 2 coordinates, the first one on the ground.

Results : z distance between measured points.

#### Line

**Free line**

Poly-line measurement.

How to measure : (1) 1st point, (2) optional intermediate points, (3) last point by stop measurement.

Results : xyz, xy en z length.

**Arc with 3 points**

How to measure : (1) any point on the circle perimeter (2) any point on the circle perimeter (3) a point on the circle perimeter to define the arc.

Results : lenght xyz, lenght xy, lenght z.

#### Catenary Curve

**Catenary Curve**

Catenary curve measurement.

How to measure : (1) catenary start point, (2) catenary end point, (3) any point on catenary curve.

Results : Distance over curve, clearance and span.

**Catenary Curve to horizontal reference plane**

Catenary curve measurement and lowest clearance to horizontal ground reference plane.

How to measure : (1) horizontal ground reference plane point, (2) catenary start point, (3) catenary end point, (4) any point on catenary curve.

Results : Distance over curve, clearance and span, x, y, z.

**Free catenary curves with varying spacing**

Continued measurement of multiple cables with varying spacing.
How to measure :

(1a) start of first cable, (1b) start of second cable, (1c) start of third cable, …

(2a) a point on first cable, (2b) a point on second cable, (2c) a point on third cable, …

(3a) end of first cable segment / start of extended first cable segment, 3b) end of second cable segment / start of extended second cable segment, (3c) end of third cable segment / start of extended third cable segment, …

(4) Double click last coordinate measurement and ends object measurement.

**Free catenary curves with fixed spacing**

Continued measurement of multiple cables with fixed spacing. All cables are parallel to first cable.
How to measure :

(1a) start of first cable, (1b) start of second cable, (1c) start of third cable, …

(2) a point on first cable

(3) end of first cable segment / start of extended first cable segment

repeat step (2) and (3)

(4) Double click last coordinate measurement and ends object measurement.

#### Area

**Free area**

Area measurement.

How to measure : (1) 1st point, (2) 2nd point, (3) optional intermediate points, (4) last point by stop measurement.

Results : xyz, xy area and xyz, xy, z length.

**Free rectangular area measurement with 3 points**

Rectangular area measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) first corner of baseline, (2) second corner of baseline, (3) perpendicular distance from baseline.

Results : xyz, xy area.

**Vertical rectangular area with 2 points**

Vertical rectangular area measurement defined by 2 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) bottom left corner, (2) diagonal opposite corner.

Results : xyz area.

**Vertical rectangular area with 3 points**

Vertical rectangular area measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) any corner, (2) horizontal adjacent corner, (3) any point on segment opposite to segment (1,2).

Results : xyz area.

**Vertical rectangular area with 2 points on horizontal edge and 1 intersection**

Vertical rectangular area measurement defined by 2 coordinates that define the horizontal baseline, and 1 calculated vertical intersection.

How to measure : (1) any corner, (2) horizontal adjacent corner, (3) any point on segment opposite to segment (1,2).

Results : xyz area.

**Horizontal rectangular area**

Horizontal rectangular area measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) any corner, (2) adjacent corner, (3) any point on segment opposite to segment (1,2).
Results : xy area.

**Squared area with 4 points horizontal with Ground**

Horizontal rectangular area measurement defined by 4 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) measure one point on ground, as distance, (2) measure one side at the desired height, as distance, (3) measure any point on the opposite side.

Results : xyz area, distance Z.

**Free horizontal area with Ground**

Vertical area measurement defined by multiple coordinates.

How to measure : (1) measure one point on the ground (2) measure sequence of coordinates at the desired height, (3) stop

Results : xyz area, distance Z.

#### Circle

**Circle by 3 points on circumference**

Circle measurement area measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) any point on the circle perimeter (2) any point on the circle perimeter (3) a point on the circle perimeter to define the arc.

Results : xyz area, xyz lenght, xyz radius, x center, y center, z center.

**Vertical circular area with radius**

Vertical circular area measurement defined by 2 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) center of the object (2) any point on the circle perimeter.

Results : xyz area, xyz lenght, xyz radius, x center, y center, z center.

**Vertical circular area with 3 points**

Vertical circular area measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) any point on the circle perimeter (2) any point on the circle perimeter (3) a point on the circle perimeter to define the arc.

Results : xyz area, xyz lenght, xyz radius, x center, y center, z center.

**Horizontal circular area with radius**

Horizontal circular area measurement defined by 2 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) center of the object (2) any point on the circle perimeter.

Results : xyz area, xyz lenght, xyz radius, x center, y center, z center.

**Horizontal circular area with 3 points**

Horizontal circular area measurement defined by 3 coordinates.

How to measure : (1) any point on the circle perimeter (2) any point on the circle perimeter (3) a point on the circle perimeter to define the arc.

Results : xyz area, xyz lenght, xyz radius, x center, y center, z center.

#### Box

**Squared box**

Rectangular volume measurement.

How to measure : (1) measure baseline as 2 points, (2) measure any point on the diagonal opposite baseline to finish measurement.

Results : Volume, baseline 1, baseline 2 and height.

**Squared box with Ground**

Rectangular volume measurement.

How to measure : (1) measure vertical ribon as 2 points, (2) measure the diagonal opposite corner to finish measurement.

Results : Volume, baseline 1, baseline 2 and height.
