How to upload a Mapping Run using Orbit 3DM Content Manager to the Orbit 3DM Cloud

This video is about uploading a prepared/ready Mobile Mapping Run to the Orbit 3DM Cloud using version 21.7.0. The same workflow is applied when using the Orbit 3DM Import And Upload Tool version 21.7.0.

Step by step operations

1. Open the pre-prepared Mobile Mapping run
2. Proceed with quality control
3. Calculate metadata
4. Verify the ready for upload status
5. Upload resources
6. Inspect resources

At opening, Orbit Content Manager has a predefined workspace where Bings maps are already inserted to the current workstation. If you would like to change this preference at start up, you can remove or add new layers to have your own customized workspace.

Drag and drop the Mobile Mapping Run, the file with the .omr extension into Orbit 3DM Content Manager. Related data is going to be added to the dataset on the left panel, to the Map 2D, to the Map 3D and to the Catalog.

Quality control is part of data preparation and delivery. Always proceed with quality control before upload to the Orbit 3DM Cloud. Using the Open View TAB to verify if the point cloud is correctly overlapping the panoramic view.

Always prepare the data for delivery by running “Review image availability” and “Review data for 3DM Viewer and Web readiness”. Associated metadata is going to be updated. The icon indicating the Mapping Run is ready to upload to the Orbit 3DM Cloud should be green or yellow. Once so, use the Orbit 3D Mapping Cloud Upload Extension to start uploading the data. Sign in with your Orbit 3D Mapping Cloud login. Users of an active Orbit 3D Mapping Cloud account and having the administrator role can sign in and manage resources. The data is going to be upload in a secure data centre. You can start the action immediately or delegate to the Task Manager. Once the upload is finished without error, the “Done” status will be available and the data will be visible in the Orbit 3DM Cloud.

Log in into the Orbit 3DM Cloud account using the authorized credentials and select “Manage”. Once inside under “Resources” you can perceive the uploaded data. To visualize resources, hit the “View resources” option. This will open a new window, and the Orbit 3DM Cloud Viewer is going to open. Inside the Orbit 3DM Cloud Viewer, adjust settings to have adequate resource visualization.
