Concepts of Oblique data in Orbit
Orbit organizes oblique data into projects. An Oblique Project is a single import.
During import Orbit will optimize the data for optimal performance. There are no limitations on numbers or volumes.
Once the Oblique Project is imported it can be used in the Orbit desktop solutions and the Orbit Publisher.

Simple import procedure
Orbit Obliques comes with a simple procedure to import the raw data into a Orbit Obliques Project. Orbit organizes Oblique Mapping data depending on a single import into projects. A Project is referred to the set of oblique imagery belonging to one single import of raw data (without limitations on the number of oblique cameras). During that import procedure Orbit organizes and optimizes the data for performance. Hereafter, the created Orbit Obliques Project (oop-file) can be used in different workspaces or mapping environments without limitations on numbers or volumes of used oblique imagery for viewing or extracting mapping data.
Prepare for import
Orbit's Desktop solutions require the raw data to be precisely documented and properly post-processed. Depending on the type of used camera('s) for capturing the oblique imagery, another template for import will be provided. In all cases, the captured Obliques Mapping data needs to be post-processed, or in other words, the orientations (X, Y, Z, omega, phi, kappa) of the imagery needs to be known and accurate for measuring.

Reference data | Any supported reference data can be added optionally. An Ortho image with similar resolution of oblique photos is advised. If not available other (online) basemaps can be used. |
Based on this information, a template (see 3D Mapping Data Preparation and Import Templates) needs to be prepared that reflects the type of camera('s). Running the import procedure will create an Orbit Obliques Project that can be used in different workflows or mapping environments.
Use, Measure, & Overlay
Settings and Preferences
Based on Orbit’s extensive photogrammetry, CRS, GIS, imagery and lidar engine, Orbit Obliques Desktop comes with everything you need : automatic selection of all 4 images upon browsing or zooming, sync zooming and panning, accurate overlays and measurements. Use the intuitive Oblique Sidebar to setup your screen as pleased. Divide your screen into parts to view all 4 oblique images at once. Adjust placement of windows and North, East, South and West views to your preference.
Measure
Measurements can be made using a point cloud, DEM or triangulation. Single-click measurements require a DEM or Point Cloud, both of them can be a part of the Oblique Project but neither is mandatory and can be skipped during the import procedure.
Overlay
Orbit Obliques comes with a very strong support of GIS data. Drag and drop your vector data file and you can immediately overlay it in any of the oblique views. Straight forward and very dynamic. To have a perfect match, you either need vector data in 3D, or 2D data with DTM - given that the 2D vectordata is draped over the dtm on-the-fly. The Vector Overlay HUD gives supplementary control over height adjustment for 2D data.
Orbit generic functions
Orbit Obliques comes as an extension on the main Orbit desktop software. All functions regarding the Orbit standalone desktop products can be activated.
