About 3D Mapping Cloud

About Prepare and Upload Resources

and does not offer the tools to alter the Resources. So it's up to you to provide valid Resources, and Using Orbit GT's upload tools, you are certain that all parts that are required for the Resource to be valid, will be uploaded. The 3DM Content Manager checks the validity of the Resource before you upload it, saving a lot of time. For example, Resources such as Mobile, Indoor, UAV or Oblique mapping are fully checked before upload can start. Also, when you make a small change to a Resource, the upload tools will only upload those parts that have changed, for example, a single image, an orientation file, and so on. This makes life very easy indeed !

Less complex Resource types such as vector data, a WFS, WMS or tiled map service, can all be set up using the 3DM Content Manager basic GIS tools. It is advised for all Resources to convert them to Orbit native formats so we can guarantee performance. Formats that have to be read entirely into memory, will cause the application to slow down (the whole file needs to be downloaded for every view) or even to crash if it would cause a memory overflow. In order to get your hands on this, leant about 3DM Content Manager and it amazing capabilities.

When updating an individual Resource using one of the Upload tools, the Resource will be temporarily unavailable until the upload is completed. The Resource Group may also be unavailable during upload. Upon completion, 3D Mapping Cloud will check if the Resource still complies with the conditions (same type, same CRS) and will update the technical metadata accordingly. If not, the Resource will no longer be part of the Resource Group. So, this is all managed for you.

 • the Resource will be listed as soon as upload is started. Note : you will not be able to view it until upload is completed.
 • the Sharing (Permission) will be set to 'private', meaning only you have access to this resource.

Resources

As soon as all data is uploaded, the dataset will appear in your Catalog and you're ready to go.

If you are familiar with Orbit GT's desktop products or On-Premises Publisher, the Resource Group is the 3D Mapping Cloud equivalent to a Mobile Mapping Project.

For example: You have collected Mobile Mapping data of a city, and you needed 47 runs to do so. You can view the whole city by opening all 47 runs individually. Not so handy isn't it ? So you create a Resource Group, and add all 47 runs in that Resource Group. Now you can view the whole city by opening just one Resource Group.

Bookmarks

Sharing is more flexible when using an informal Bookmark of a formally set-up Publication. You can share with Named Users, but also with Guest Users

Sharing

Just like Resources, you can share a Resource Group to Named Users, Teams and whole Organisations.

Content Manager

Use the Content Manager to prep your data and ready it for upload. Then use the “3D Mapping Cloud upload” extension. As soon as you start any upload process, the volume of data required is reserved on the 3D Mapping Cloud.

Roles

You need to be Owner or Administrator to create and manage Teams. Viewer Catalog

that is shared w However, sometimes you wish to share some data - that is, by viewing the data - to other people, e.g. a contractor, a business partner, a customer, put a sneak preview on your website, or even share the public at large. Those users are Guests to your data.

As Named User, you will have to prepare the data and views you wish to share by creating a Bookmark or a Publication. You will also have to provide for a number of Guest Users in your Account.

About The Billing Agent.
There can be one or more Billing Agents that will not be counted as a Named User as long as he/she has no other permissions than managing the billing items. You can engage a Billing Agent to manage your subscription, add-ons, company and credit card data, access invoices, and more. A Billing Agent does not have access to the viewer or to any data.

When you subscribe to 3D Mapping Cloud, you become a Named User. This means you are individually identified and known by the system. Key identification their unique email address for that person.

A Named User is associated with a single Account, i.e. the account of the organisation you work for. If you're the first one of your organisation to subscribe to 3D Mapping Cloud, you are opening a new Account and thus become the Owner of that Account. You can then invite co-workers to share the same Account. Ownership can be transferred to an other person at any time.

The way a Named User may use the 3D Mapping Cloud is defined by the User Role and the Permissions associated with that role. Secondly, this person may have access permissions to view some datasets, and some not.

The Role and its Permissions are tied to this individual and cannot be transferred.

The Owner and Administrators of the Account can assign Roles and Permissions to each Named User.
