Orbit Server Update from version 11.x.x to 11.2.1
This page describes the installation of an Orbit Server update from version 11.0.x or 11.1.0 to the latest version 11.2.1.

Plan and Communicate
Plan for assistance
Plan your update in consultation with the Orbit team to ensure their availability for technical support and license validation if required.
Communicate to coworkers
A well prepared update will take no longer than 15 minutes. However, while your updating, no one can use or access the Orbit desktop Client or Orbit Service.
Preparations
Request Activation Key
- Request your Activation Key to validate your updated Product, contact Sales at Orbit GT.
- Read the updated license system, online connectivity is required : Orbit Online License Activation.
Download Update Package
Download the update package from the Orbit ftp and unzip
Make sure you download the package according your Orbit Server type and version. Verify your version via the Orbit desktop Client About Window (Main Toolbar > Help > About > Details).

Download and unzip to
../update/1121/
Create Full Backup
Backup the the client and server program folders :
../client/program/
../server/program/
Copy these folders into
../backup/[date]/11[x][x]/client/program/
../backup/[date]/11[x][x]/server/program/
Review Server Configurations
The “admin” workspace will be reset to the default configuration.
Review and update the dependencies of the “admin” workspace datasetlists. After update only its default “OpenStreetMap” and “Blanco” datasetlists will be retained.
Steps to Install Major Updates
Some actions are only required for a specific Orbit Server type or version. If so this is mentioned in bold between ().
Stop and Remove Orbit Service
- Close all Orbit desktop Clients
- Remove the Orbit Service, Run as administrator (11.0.x only) :
../server/program/bin64/ServiceRemove.bat
- Verify your Operating System Services and the status of the “Orbit Enterprise Service”
Update Orbit Client
- Delete following directories :
../client/program/software/
../client/program/users/
- Delete following directory (11.0.x only) :
../client/program/jre64/
- Copy and Merge Client folder, if applicable Copy and Replace existing files :
- Copy
../update/112/client/program/
- Paste into
../client/
Update Orbit Server
- Delete following directories :
../server/program/log/
../server/program/software/
../server/program/users/
- Delete following directories (11.0.x only) :
../server/program/bin64/
../server/program/jre64/
- Delete following directories (Publishers only) :
../server/program/services/publisher/logs/
- Rename following directory (Publishers 11.0.2 only) :
../server/program/services/ext_publisher/
into ./publisher/
- Delete following files :
../server/program/system/licenses_*.ini
- Copy and Merge Server folder, if applicable Copy and Replace existing files :
- Copy
../update/1121/server/program
- Paste into
../server/
Review Server Configurations
Some custom configurations might be reset. Compare the following configuration with the backup :
- Maximum memory use by Client and Server, see Orbit Startup Configurations.
Install and Start Orbit Service
- Install the Orbit Service, Run as administrator (11.0.x only) :
../server/program/bin64/ServiceInstall.bat
- Start the Orbit Service, Run as administrator :
../server/program/bin64/ServiceStart.bat
- Verify your Operating System Services and the status of the “Orbit Enterprise Service”
Activate Product
- Activate your product via the EOS Console > License using your Product Activation Key.
Make sure you logon to the updated EOS Console, check its date and version displayed above the logon panel.
If product activation fails, review the documentation about license activation : Orbit Online License Activation.
Update EOS Configurations
- Re-Publish all publication to take advantage of the updated WebClient (Publishers only) :
EOS Console :EOS Console > Publishers
Steps to Install Minor Updates & Patches
Stop Orbit Service
- Close all Orbit desktop Clients
Update Orbit Client
- Replace following directory :
../client/program/software/
Update Orbit Server
- Replace following directories :
../server/program/software/
../server/program/wwwroot/api/
../server/program/wwwroot/eosconsole/
Start Orbit Service
- Start the Orbit Service, Run as administrator :
../server/program/bin64/ServiceStart.bat
