Mapping the Meridian

Accessing Topcon’s Mobile-Mapping Data

Orbit Mobile Mapping Publisher

When you load the link above, you will see the Orbit screen with a list of Projects on the left side with a mini overview map. The main screen is split in two, with the route screen on top and the digital 360˚ photo on the bottom.

Choosing and Loading a Project

To start looking at the data you will need to load the area closest to your school. The Projects are named based on the start and end of the drive. To help you choose, you can use the table below to see the key places included in each project.

Once you know which project you need, simply click on the project name and the route will be displayed under the name.

To move around the map and load the different 360˚ photos, move the hand cursor over the blue pin in the top window then drag the pin to the area you are interested in. You can only move the pin to areas where the car has driven, this is shown in the mini map on the left hand side under the project name, if you try and select a point where there is no data a warning will be shown ‘No Panorama Found’.

In the map windows you can also browse around the map by holding the left mouse button down and dragging the mouse, you can also Zoom in and out using the Mouse wheel. Alternatively you can use the joy pad icon and + - buttons in the top left of the window to navigate around.

Once you have chosen the photo you can then move around the photo in the lower window. By holding the left mouse button down, drag the cursor around in the photo to change where you are looking. The viewing direction is also shown in the top map window, indicated by a blue fan.

To move to the next photo, you can either move the pin again or you can double click the left mouse button in the photo window. You will then see the a warning ‘Loading Photo.
