Orbit Vector File
An Orbit Vector File (*.ovf) is Orbit's native vector file storage format.
An OVF stores spatial objects (geometry) and attribute information.
Structure and Reasons to use
An Orbit Vector File is a vector storage format with extended data structure capabilities compared to an Esri Shape file : Vector dataset structure concepts.
This file format is platform independent. A single file groups spatial component, attribute component and indexes. An OVF is optimized for fast editing of vector data in Orbit.
How to Create and Update
- Create new dataset : Datasets & Dataset Lists > New DataSet
- Open dataset : Resource Library
- Edit geometry : Create & Edit Objects Overview
- Edit attributes: Object Inspector
Legend and Georeference
Optionally an OVF can be accompanied by an Orbit Legend, Orbit Resource Descriptor and Projection Definition File. in Orbit.
